About Ronan’s Reel

We’re a nonprofit organization committed to combating the addiction epidemic so that more loved ones will not be lost.

We create community, conversation and funding in support of this cause through events that connect people around a shared love of film, comedy and the arts.  

Ronan’s Reel was created in honor of Dan Ronan. 

About Dan

Dan Ronan was a comedian and a film buff. He was our brother and our friend.

 In 2014 we lost Dan, two months shy of his 25th birthday. He had struggled with addiction for years, a reality he often grappled with in his writing and stand-up. 

 Dan was a generous performer. He aspired to tell his story with humor and honesty, to face an audience and show there should be no shame in being addicted. Movies were both a source of inspiration and a respite for him. And he had eclectic taste, from classic (Bicycle Thieves) to campy (Clue) to arthouse (Jingle all the Way) to ultra-arthouse (Flubber). 

Ronan’s Reel is a celebration of Dan and an experience that brought him happiness. In other words, we wanted an excuse to watch Flubber together.
